So far so good with my MFA applications, I've been accepted at the University of Calgary and San Francisco Art Institute. Still waiting to hear back from University of British Columbia (Vancouver). I turned down an interview with CalArts (with great disappointment I decided it would be too expensive overall) and didn't get into the California College of Art.

Arizona State is a no-go because one of my fucking schools didn't send them a transcript and I found out too late (part of the blame also rests with Arizona State itself since their "system" is very convoluted and counterintuitive, and didn't offer any clear way of checking my application status). Arizona State was the American school most financially viable for me, not to mention it looked like an awesome school.

San Francisco Art Institute would be amazing, but I've been rethinking its feasibility because of the associated cost (I estimate about $120,000 out of pocket, the same cost as CalArts, with no potential for grants or scholarships because I would be an international student... I hadn't been aware that international students were ineligible for funding until after applying). If I were of normal health and diet I would take the risk (life's short after all), but in my situation it's best that I maintain some kind of financial safety net, so it's not looking like it will happen.



On an unrelated note, I think Duke Nukem Forever [link] should use the Guns N Roses' album Chinese Democracy [link] as their soundtrack. They have uncanny similarities. I'm not sure if I still believe that either will ever materialize, but would be happy if they did.
